the rocky promontory of Carrickfergus stands an impressive medieval
fortress. In the town itself you will admire some 18th-century houses
and a good part of the ancient city walls. |

has the following opening times:
9am-6pm Monday to Friday – 10am-6pm Saturdays – noon-6pm
Sundays in July and August
9am-6pm Monday to Friday – 10am-6pm Saturdays from April
to June and in September
9am-5pm Monday to Friday from October to March
Sightseeing and Visiting Carrickfergus Castle (call 93351273 |
for
information) houses a museum and is the first and the finest Norman
castle in Ireland. The Andrew Jackson Centre (call 93366455 for
information) was opened in the memory of the seventh president of the
United States whose parents once lived in Carrickfergus. |
