The
pleasant village of Ardee unusually has two castles: Ardee Castle (call
041-6853805 for information) and Hatch’s Castle. The first one is now a
museum in which you will find all the information on the history of
Ardee. The second one is still a private residence.
The coast road from Drogheda to Dundalk is a scenic one. At
Termonfeckin you will admire the remains of a 6th-century monastery and
a castle. Clogherhead is a nice seaside town from which you will |
enjoy
great views of the Cooley Peninsula and the Mourne Mountains (from the
harbour of Port Oriel to be more exact).
Red Man’s Cave’s name comes from a reddish fungus which becomes visible
at low tide. |
