Waterford Golf Club is an attractive parkland course designed by the great James Braid who was Open Champion on five occasions. Waterford Golf Club is particularly renowned for the quality of its greens and for its friendly atmosphere. The first nine demands accuracy from the tee. The back nine is more forgiving and features a great closing stretch with a classic finishing hole. Here the drive is stuck from an elevated tee, with a 360 degree view that takes in the city and provides an overhead view of the river Suir, to a narrow fairway which winds its way downhill, between score threatening gorse, to a receptive green 400 yards away.
The course is a five minute drive up the valley side from many of the city hotels. The club house has been recently refurbished and its outsized windows and veranda provide panoramic views of the city and surrounding townlsands. |
