South from the city centre stretches what is known as The Golden Mile, a 1km-long strip filled with pubs and restaurants. Belfast’s Botanic Gardens (call 90324902 for information) are a verdant oasis in the middle of the city. The unique and amazing Palm House and Tropical Ravine house many unusual and tropical plants such as orchids, lilies and banana plants.
