Armagh city

Armagh is the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland and a pleasant cathedral city. The Armagh Tourist Information Centre (call 37521801 for information or visit www.visit-armagh.com) is located on English St and has the following opening times:  9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 1 to 5.30pm on Sundays in July and August  9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 2 to 5pm on Sundays from September to June.
Sightseeing and Visiting [Voir et visiter] St Patrick’s Trian is an
ancient Presbytarian church which is now a heritage centre. Several
exhibitions makes it worth a visit as they will provide you with
excellent background about the history of Armagh. St Patrick’s Church
of Ireland Cathedral is the city’s Anglican Cathedral in Gothic style
which stands on the grounds once occupied by St Patrick’s stone church.
High King Brian Ború is buried there, his grave marked by a stone slab.
Armagh
Public Library (call 37523142 for information or visit
www.armaghlibrary.org) houses a first edition of Jonathan Swift’s
Gulliver’s Travels published in 1726 which contains annotations from
Jonathan Swift himself. A second cathedral named after Ireland’s patron
saint is St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, a Gothic Revival style
building which construction dates back to the 19th century. The unusual
interior of the cathedral is covered with colourful mosaics. The Mall
which is now an elegant park was originally a place for horse racing,
cock fighting and bull baiting. The Mall’s main points of attraction
are the courthouse, Armagh Gaol, Charlemont Place, and two museums: the
Armagh County Museum (call 37523070 for information) and the Royal
Irish Fusiliers Museum (call 37522911 for information). Not far from
Armagh City, Navan Fort is the most important archaeological site of
Ulster, equalling Tara in County Meath. Entertainment
 Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre (call 37521820 for
information or visit www.marketplacearmagh.com) is a major cultural
venue for theatre and exhibitions.  Road Bowls is a popular
traditional game which is nowadays played in Armagh and Cork only. The
Tourist Information Centre will give you more information about Road
Bowls and games scheduled.
